IQAC will ensure quality culture as the prime concern for all courses of the Institute through all the initiatives taken with internal and external support.

The IQAC should meet at least once in every quarter. The quorum for the meeting shall be two-third of the total number of members. The agenda, minutes and Action Taken Reports are to be documented with official signatures and maintained electronically in a retrievable format.

About Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC):

One of the emerging challenges faced by any higher educational institution is the development, application, and maintenance of quality benchmarks in all its key performance areas. To institutionalize the process of quality sustenance and enhancement, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established in the college. The IQAC is a nodal agency for ushering in the era of total quality management by working out intervention strategies to enhance overall quality in the institution.

The vision of IQAC is to ensure quality culture as the prime concern for the Higher Education Institutions through institutionalizing and internalizing all the initiatives taken with internal and external support.

Basic Purpose of IQAC:

The IQAC works for ensuring continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution and assuring all the stakeholders connected with higher education- namely students, parents, teachers, staff, funding agencies and society in general. IQAC is utilized to generate good academic ideas and practices. It seeks to work for planning, implementing, and measuring the outcome of the academic and administrative performance of the institution.

Goals and Objectives:

The primary aim of the IQAC is

  • To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
  • To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.

Functions:

Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/ parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the institution.
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
  • Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes.
  • Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education.
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars, and conferences on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles.
  • Documentation of the various programs/activities leading to quality improvement.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices.
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality.
  • Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and its follow-up.
  • Preparation and submission of Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) based on the quality parameters.

Strategies:

IQAC evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks.
  • Relevant and quality academic/ research programmes.
  • Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society.
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning.
  • The credibility of the assessment and evaluation process.
  • Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services.
  • Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.

The Role of the IQAC Coordinator:

The role of the coordinator of the IQAC is crucial in ensuring the effective functioning of all the members. The coordinator of the IQAC may be a senior/competent person with experience and exposure in quality aspects. She/he may be a full-time functionary or, to start with, she/he may be a senior academic /administrator entrusted with the IQAC as an additional responsibility. Secretarial assistance may be facilitated by the administration. It is essential that the coordinator may have sound knowledge about the computer, data management and its various functions such as usage for effective communication.

Mechanism of IQAC:

The Internal Quality Assurance Mechanism in the institute has been decided as follows for systematic development of the Institute:

  • IQAC receives the inputs from Management, Administrative Monitoring Committees, Academic Monitoring Committees and Stakeholders (Students, Alumni, Parents, Teaching & Non-teaching faculty, Academic/Industry Expert).
  • IQAC Meeting to review Inputs received, Annual Report of Institute and Internal Audit report of Institute and compiles the Quality Requirements to be implemented for Institute development.
  • IQAC, in consultation with Management, plans the quality initiatives including strategic plan for short term and long-term
  • The respective committees are intimated about the plan through circular and implementation steps are discussed.
  • Implementation of Initiatives is executed in the various areas such as Academic Activity, Co-curricular/ Extra-curricular, Training & Placement, Examination, Alumni, Industry Research
  • The effective implementation of Quality initiatives is assessed by measuring various parameters as follows:
    1. Academic Activity: by review of internal and university examination
    2. Co-curricular/ Extra-curricular: Percentage of participation by students and awards
    3. Training and placement: percentage of students placed and training and placement activities conducted.
    4. Examination: by review of internal and university examination
    5. Alumni: review of Alumni activities and
    6. Industry Research Collaborations: Number of MOUs, research projects, publications and funding

The IQAC then prepares the Annual Report of implementing quality initiatives of college and prepare Report of Action to Be Taken for continuously improving effectiveness of the initiatives as required.
