The day began with Registration and Welcome Tea, followed by a warm Inauguration and Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Shilpa Pahwa, Vice Principal, Lloyd Institute of Management & Technology, who emphasized the significance of ethical practices and humane care in laboratory animal research.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Kripali Pande, Senior Consultant, CCSEA, on "General Guidelines to CCSEA." Dr. Pande highlighted the legal, ethical, and regulatory framework under CCSEA for laboratory animal care, stressing the importance of compliance, transparency, and responsibility in animal experimentation.

Following this, Technical Session II on "Refining Animal Research: Humane Endpoints and Euthanasia Practice" was conducted by Dr. Inderjeet Yadav, Veterinarian, NBRC. The session focused on humane endpoints in animal studies, best practices for minimizing animal suffering, and scientifically validated euthanasia techniques in compliance with global ethical standards.

The next session, Technical Session III, titled "Bio-methodologies Used in Lab Animal Experimentation: Ethical Ways in Animal Research", was delivered by Dr. Anupama Parashar, Veterinary Officer, ILBS, New Delhi. She provided an insightful overview of commonly used bio-methodologies, their ethical implications, and how refinement strategies can improve both scientific validity and animal welfare.

Post-lunch, participants engaged in an intensive Hands-on Workshop on "Handling and Welfare of Lab Animals", facilitated by Dr. Inderjeet Yadav and Dr. Anupama Parashar. This practical session allowed participants to gain firsthand experience in humane handling techniques, stress minimization, and welfare monitoring of rats and mice in research settings.

The day concluded with Closing Remarks by Dr. Anjana Sharma, Co-convener, who summarized the day’s learning, appreciated the active participation of delegates, and highlighted the importance of applying ethical guidelines in day-to-day research practices.

Day One successfully set the foundation for an engaging and informative workshop, combining expert lectures with practical exposure to ensure participants understood both theoretical and applied aspects of animal welfare in research.

The second day of the Two Days National Workshop on "Ethical Guidelines for Animal Handling and Welfare: A Basic Research and Practical with Rats & Mice", sponsored by CCSEA, Govt. of India and organized by Lloyd Institute of Management & Technology (Pharm.), Greater Noida, was marked with insightful technical sessions, practical training, and a memorable closing ceremony.

The day commenced with Technical Session IV on "Animal Pathology and Disease" by Dr. Shivam Chaturvedi, Veterinarian, ICGEB, New Delhi. Dr. Chaturvedi explained various pathological conditions affecting laboratory animals, the importance of disease monitoring, and the impact of pathology on experimental outcomes and data reliability.

This was followed by Technical Session V on "Genetically Engineered Animals in Research", delivered by Dr. Ritu Karwasra, Research Officer (Clinical Pharmacology), CCRUM HQRs, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Dr. Karwasra provided an overview of transgenic and knockout animal models, their applications in biomedical research, and the ethical considerations involved in their use.

Next, Technical Session VI on "Administrative Control of Animal Experiments" was conducted by Dr. Dinesh Kanwar Yadav, Veterinary Officer, JNU. He discussed the regulatory framework, documentation requirements, and the role of IAECs (Institutional Animal Ethics Committees) in ensuring compliance with CCSEA guidelines.

Post lunch, participants engaged in an extensive Hands-on Workshop on "Advanced Hands-On Training in Rescue & Rehabilitation", conducted by Dr. Dinesh Kanwar Yadav and Dr. Shivam Chaturvedi. This session provided practical exposure to advanced techniques in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and welfare management, emphasizing humane care and refinement strategies in research.

Later in the day, a Quiz & Feedback session was organized, where participants enthusiastically tested their knowledge from the two-day workshop. Winners of the quiz were recognized for their outstanding performance.

Before the Valedictory session, Dr. Vandana Arora Sethi, Group Director, Lloyd Group of Institutions, addressed the participants with highly motivating words. She encouraged them to carry forward the learnings of the workshop into their academic and research practices and emphasized the significance of ethical responsibility in animal experimentation.

The event concluded with the Valedictory Function & Vote of Thanks, delivered by Dr. Radha Goel, Convener. During the valedictory, Dr. Radha Goel, Convener, Dr. Anjana Sharma, Co-convener and Faculty Coordinators Dr. Syed Salman Ali and Mr. Puneet Nirmal were felicitated for their contributions in organizing the workshop. The session also featured prize distribution to the quiz winners, acknowledging their active participation and enthusiasm.

The two-day workshop successfully blended theoretical insights, practical training, and interactive learning, equipping participants with a strong foundation in ethical animal handling, welfare, and regulatory compliance.
