Introduction:
Lloyd Institute of Management and Technology organized a three-day interactive workshop on “Data Analysis Using Microsoft Excel” for master's students across all branches on 17th, 24th, and 31st January 2025.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. Mohit Agrawal, Associate Professor – Marketing and Strategy, Lloyd Institute of Management and Technology, who served as the resource person. He provided hands-on training to M.Pharm students from various specializations, including Pharmaceutics, Quality Assurance, and Pharmacology, covering both fundamental and advanced Excel techniques.
The workshop consisted of a total of 15 hours of training (5 hours per day), structured as follows:
Day 1: Introduction to Excel and Basic Functionalities
On the first day, Dr. Mohit Agrawal introduced students to Microsoft Excel and its wide-ranging applications. The training covered:
- Data Formatting
- Conditional Formatting
- Basic Formulae and Functions
Day 2: Conditional Formulas and Advanced Functions
The second day focused on:
- SUMIF and COUNTIF functions
- Advanced Conditional Formulas
- Hands-on practice using laptops and computers
Each student received personalized, on-screen hands-on training, and Dr. Agrawal addressed all queries efficiently.
Day 3: Advanced Excel Techniques
On the final day, participants were trained in:
- VLOOKUP Basics
- Creating and Modifying Pivot Tables
- Summarizing Data (Sum, Count, Average)
- Grouping, Filtering, and Sorting in Pivot Tables
Participation and Feedback
A total of 30 M.Pharm students enrolled in the program, out of which 15 attended all sessions and successfully grasped valuable data analysis techniques. These students were awarded Certificates of Completion.
At the end of the workshop, feedback was collected via Google Forms to assess the effectiveness of the training.
Conclusion
The workshop was successfully coordinated by Dr. Chitra Gupta, Dean (PG), Lloyd Institute of Management and Technology. She congratulated the participants and distributed certificates to the eligible students.
Overall, the workshop was a grand success, achieving its objectives of equipping students with essential data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
